New player with the hottest shit around as the 70′s disco-hustled into the 80′s. The future of skating look immense, and with trucks that actually turned and didn’t break, Stage 2 launched in 1979. The clunky lintel-and-post pivot arms of Stage 1 began to smooth out with more beefy-but-sleek heft, mirroring the fat curvilinear decks they carried. It would take several more stages for Indy to achieve the ultimate graceful arcing lines, and renowned durability of their final designs, but these solid beauties are an important benchmark in the Indy lineage. Old-school 2.5 inch bolt hole width – will not fit most’new school’ deck bolt patterns (2.125). Original yellow Rannalli barrel bushings still springy and resilient, but at over 40 years old will need replacement with use. All original hardware & kingpins, bushings & washers. Independent Truck Co – Stage II (2) – 131(Superwides) – 8 axle/131 mm hanger. Over hundreds of years ancient Rome unlocked the puzzle of the arch, adding longevity to their structures that can survive to this day. It only took Independent about 6 or 7. As the feeble right angles of the Stage 1 pivot-arm morphed into the brawny arcuate lines of Stage 4 & 5, we are left with extinct stumps in the Indy evolutionary tree (Stage 2 & 3). Shuffling into the 1980′s, and with pig decks getting fatter & fatter, Indy probably thought even this size (“Superwides”) would one day become obsolete. These living fossils are in clean, skate able condition although the late 80′s bushings could use an update. Old-school 2.5 inch bolt hole width – will not fit most’new school’ deck bolt patterns (2.125). Original bushings and pivot cups replaced in late 1980′s with black 94a Hard Independent gear. All original hardware & kingpins, and 4 original speed washers. Preservation-quality cleaning and ready for your next deep throwback deck or collection. - Stage IV(4) – 9.125 axles/161mm hangers – II. The elegant lines of the Stage 4 design would cede to the muscular pivot-bar wings of Stage 5 in a few short years, but in the early 80′s these Art Deco lines were the gold-standard for the increasingly fat & curvy pig decks being produced. Independent was just learning how to be an industry leader when these were cast, the shrinkage holes and cold-separation casting flaws were in the past. The reliable, precise turning now married with bomb-proof durability. Old-school 2.5 inch bolt hole width – and will not fit most’new school’ deck bolt patterns (2.125). These near-NOS beauties have been loved and preserved to posterity, befitting an extinct branch of the Indy lineage. Original bushings recently replaced with Indy 90a medium cylinder bushings.
