This vintage Ripper complete is classic 1980s Powell Peralta at its best! This graphic is arguably skateboardings most well-known image. This 10 wide by 30 pig shaped Ripper is where it all began. Included on the deck is a set of vintage black Tracker Sixtrack Ultralight Trucks in new old stock condition. Besides the deck, almost everything on it is new old stock. This board is 100% original and authentic. It has not been touched up or anything like that. This one is a head turner. Because of the vibrancy of the original paint, the deck not only is a stunning piece by itself, but also makes the surrounding decks in your collection pop. Although it took me a long long time to find, this deck has a pair of NOS generation 1 Red Vision rails. The rails were installed using wood screws. That means the deck never had holes drilled throughout to fit the rat nuts. I prefer these rails over the original Rib bones because of the perfecting matching shade of red. The color is more bright and vibrant and really bring life to the board and make the graphic pop. The exterior of rails have a glossy shine that really makes the rest of the board look hardly used. This vintage Powell Peralta pig shape Ripper is in a cobalt blue dip. Cobalt blue is one of the most sought after colors when it comes to Powell Peralta collecting. Most people I have seen this color way on the smaller freestyle & mid-size decks; The full size was scarcely made. Cobalt Rippers are specifically very rare with the red ripping ripper colorway. Ive been collecting vintage Powell Peralta decks for years and this is arguably the best condition Ive seen when it comes to this colorway on a full-size 1984 Ripper. The pictures do the talking for this one. As you can see it is in beautiful condition all around especially for an original Pig Ripper. The graphics are near perfect with a near flawless graphic of the infamous skeleton in the middle. The skateboard comes from a smoke free home. It has been safely stored away from dust & sunlight. The deck and all components have been cleaned and sterilized for your convenience. The top side includes its original die cut factory grip tape. The grip is in very clean condition without any eye sores. The gold dragon on the top side is in amazing shape. Dragons gold color is bright and vibrant without any noticeable wear. Structurally, the board is amazing shape. The wood is in excellent condition without any issues other than the obvious. You can tell this deck was not abused and well taken care of by original owner. More importantly it has also been properly stored for decade. The only structural imperfection I can find is the damage in the nose area as pictured. To be completely honest with you, as an OCD collector, I hardly noticed the chipped nose at all when it comes to this one. Because of the overall condition of graphics, plus new old stock trucks wheels and plastics, it does not catch the eye. The best feature of this one is the overall condition of the paint. The paint is bright and vibrant without any major flaws. Most all of these cobalt blue pig Rippers have heavy fading in the blue dip. Besides maybe a tiny edge on one side of the dragon, there is no noticeable discoloration or fading that I can see. As the Powell Peralta Legacy continues to grow so has its popularity with skaters young and old. This deck is truely a time piece of pop culture and really is a piece of art. To many collectors, the Ripper is the only Powell they need in their collection. Literally every year that passes these become more scarce and harder to find than the year before. You can find a 1986+ Ripper deck all day, but when it comes to these original pig shaped rippers they are far and in between especially in such condition. No matter what year it is, these Vintage Powell Peralta skateboards with iconic graphics will always be sought after. These historical graphics helped pave the way for skateboarding to become what it is today. Not only do these images define a period in time, but these graphics are responsible for creating the life of skateboarding as we know it And Ill say that as a fact!! These decks continuously increase in value and as one of those categories of collectibles they will always remain strong in the market place no matter if the age group that grew up with them has come and gone.
