An exceptionally rare board and a beautiful addition for the serious collector. Early 1960s Nash board featuring Duke Kahanamoku. Duke was a celebrity athlete/Olympic gold medalist who is regarded as a legend, as well as the grandfather of American swimming, surfing, and helped pioneer skateboarding as a result. Skateboarding would arguably not exist without this man. These boards were produced in small quantities in the earliest days of skating, but were pulled for reasons unclear. I’ve read that due to family not appreciating the use of the name, but that’s anecdotal. This will be a gem in a collection when displayed. Measures just under 29″ in length and just under 6″ in width. Stands 3 5/8 tall on the trucks. The board itself is about 7/8 thick. This board is in untouched original played with condition; I didn’t bother whipping the years of dust and dirt off because I personally find it beautiful and charming the way it is. The blue graphic retains approximately 90-95 percent of its original image and is still a beautiful vivid color that presents wonderfully. Has scratches and some image loss as pictured. The wheels are clay and spin freely, though need oil. The trucks and screws have minor rust. Two of the screws have poked through the top of the board (not completely) from over tightening. The board has scratches, dents, dings, and chips as to be expected. It was obviously ridden but has been stored for many decades out of light.
