The Z-Boys revolutionized skateboarding with a new, aggressive style inspired by surfing, pioneering vertical skating in empty backyard pools during a California drought. Critics and audiences widely praised the film for its authenticity, energy, and historical significance, often calling it a landmark documentary about the birth of “extreme sports” and youth culture.
