Surf Bird Goofy Foot Nash Skateboards Set 1960′s Vintage Fine Condition FREE S/H
The boards measure 22 in length, are in well preserved condition (see description above), and are suitable for display in a permanent collection. Feel free to contact me with further questions. Nash III, founder of Nash Skateboards. Nash was the fourth generation of his family born in Fort Worth. He attended Charles E. Nash elementary school, named for his grandfather, and worked for the family business, Nash Hardware at a young age. One of the first skateboards by the brand is on display at the Smithsonian Institute. The’Goofy Foot Sidewalk Surfer’ from NASH, shown here, was one of the original, mass produced skateboards of the late 1960s. The plastic wheels and metal ball bearings made riding dangerous and only the skilled rider could perform tricks or rode downhill with any success. It wasn’t until 1970 with the introduction of the urethane wheel by Frank Nasworthy, that skateboarding became a legitimate competition sport. The urethane wheel provided a smooth ride and enabled skaters to go faster and maneuver the skateboard in ways they couldn’t with the cumbersome metal, clay or plastic wheel. Currently not on view. Up for sale is a 1960s era Nash “Surf Bird” vintage skateboard in blue/natural wood. Appears to be completely original. While there are normal signs of age and use, including some minor dings in the wood, a tiny drop of white paint, what looks like “Kathy” written in green on the bottom, and rust/patina, this setup is in great shape for its age. Vintage Original 1980s Powell Peralta Tony Hawk Rare Bird Claw Skateboard. This is NOT a reissue. Hard to find in this condition! Super cool color combination on this one. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. Toxic Waste 95A wheels. No wood rot and the deck is very solid and straight in excellent condition. Some scuffs and scraping as pictured but an amazing board. Full size pro board measuring 30 inches long by 10 wide at its widest point. I have a collection of vintage original boards and will be posting others also. This is one of the cooler looking ones.
